STUDIO ARTISTS GO TO SAN FRAN FOR ART SLAM

For the last weekend in March, a group of Studio artists, many with family members, and most of the Studio teachers traveled to San Francisco and participated in the Open House and Disability Arts Festival at the De Young Museum.
The Studio had a booth at the festival which displayed mock record album covers made by Studio artists. It was an interactive exhibit which allowed visitors to create and display their own album covers.

One part of the festival was Art Slam, a slide presentation of artwork by disabled artists from many different places. 35 Studio artists had their art shown to a packed audience. The slide show included a short artist statement with each slide. The audience was very enthusiastic, laughing and clapping for many entries.

While in SF, the group stayed at the Metropolis Hotel. Everyone had a great time touring the city, riding the trolly, shopping and going to restaurants. Partial funding for the trip came from donations from Studio supporters.
