Artist Bio
Allen started painting and making paper mache sculptures when he was in high school. While working at another job, Allen heard about The Studio and thought it might be something he would like to be a part of.
Cassidy’s paintings are vibrant expressionist constructions. They are reminiscent of Keith Herring’s work. Populated with archetypal animals, people, buildings and vehicles, Allen shows a strong sense of color composition and dynamic design principles.
Many of Allen’s ceramic sculptures are anthropomorphized animals. He is also a part of the Figure Sculpture class and has created some wonderful interpretations of the people who have posed for the class.
In addition to painting and sculpture, Allen is involved in all of the classes offered at The Studio and most of the group projects that occur here. He is a part of The Sketch Club, a small group of artists who draw portraits at local fairs.
Allen is also enthusiastically engaged in drama and video projects. He was a part of The Dream Project, a multi media performance in May 2008. Cassidy has produced several short films, some featuring dogs, a subject he is very enthusiastic about.
