Artist Bio
Jaimal grew up in Riverside California. He moved to Humboldt County in 2001 with his family. For Jaimal, that was a good change because he had been feeling something was missing from his life. He discovered that it was art. Jaimal says he finds the beautiful landscapes and wildlife in this area stimulating and inspiring.
A major theme running throughout much of Jaimal's art was inspired by his first encounter with one of the egrets that makes it's home in the marshlands of Arcata. He said the experience was like finding his soul. Other birds and animals make their way into much of Jaimal's work, but he keeps returning to egrets.
Jaimal says he is inspired by Charles Shultz and Dr.Suess. Cartooning is one of the types of art he does best. He often contributes comic strips to The Studio's newsletter.
Jaimal's favorite artist is Leonardo DaVinci. He says that is because Leonardo painted beautiful figures, studied anatomy and made his own paint. He likes what he calls "the mysterious quality Leonardo puts in his paintings."
His short film, “Shadow of The Artist” won the best experimental video award at the 2009 Focus Film Festival in Chico, CA.
